Showgirl Competition and Rural Achiever Award

Picture
Cumnock Show Society will be conducting a  Showgirl competition and Rural Achiever Award in 2018.

Rowena Nicholas (pictured second from right) is our 2017 Cumnock Showgirl.

Ro Nicholas has grown-up on a farm “Nebraska North” located between Cumnock and Wellington. She has been very involved with local Campdrafts, volunteering in Cattle Section at our Cumnock show and teaching kids how to swim in Manildra and Wellington. Ro has participated in our Art and Photography sections, and her ag panaromic HSC major artwork “Tools of the Trade” was indeed an impressive piece and a show stopper on display at our Cumnock Show.

Rowie attended St Marys Catholic school in Wellington and then went to Kambala boarding school in Rose Bay, Sydney for her secondary education. Ro has completed a Bachelor of Health Science at Sydney University (3 years) and is presently studying a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice at Monash University in Melbourne.

Ro loves to waterski at Burrendong Dam, and enjoys photography, hockey, netball, swimming, touch football, campdraft, show jumping and promoting health. Her ambition is to become an Occupational Therapist with a mobile practice so she can help people in rural and remote areas to improve their quality of life.

Thank you Ro, for representing our local farming district, all the best and we wish you well for your future endeavours!

SHOWGIRL
The Showgirl competition aims to find a  young woman to act as an ambassador for the Cumnock Show  Society.

The Cumnock showgirl must have genuine  interest in their community, including knowledge of rural and regional NSW.

Entrants must be aged 18-24 years as at 1st May 2019. (This is a year later as our show is too late for the Regional judging competition held in Feb each year. Therefore the Cumnock Showgirl 2018 will go to Regional Showgirl 2019)

Entrants must live, be educated, or work within NSW for at least 3 mths prior to their local Showgirl Competition.

The contestants are judged on personality, confidence, ambition, goals, general and rural knowledge, presentation and speech.

All Cumnock contestants will receive a $100 megapack and the winner will receive the MAJOR  prize! Winner will also receive a 2-day Personal Development Workshop either in Nov or Feb in Dubbo (accommodation included).

Please contact Show secretary
christinejoyw@yahoo.com.au to suggest suitable girls or to apply before 9 March 2018.

RURAL ACHIEVER AWARD
The RAS Rural Achiever Award is a state-wide leadership program run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to recognise
future young leaders who are working hard to make a significant contribution to their local community and to rural Australia.

The program has so much potential to grow and further foster young leaders in agriculture.

To be eligible to apply, applicants must be aged between 20 and 29 years of age and be permanent residents of Australia,
residing in NSW.

All applicants must be available to attend a  face-to-face interview in November 2018. The Rural Achiever selection panel will
meet at three regional locations and successful applicants will be advised in October 2017 if they are required to attend.

The 8 successful Award recipients must be available for a 9 day program at the 2019 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
